The Dreaded "Torn ACL"

Need a little help from the commissioners in clarifying the rules regarding the "keepers". Within 24 hours of naming Terrell Thomas as my defensive keeper he blew out his knee and is gone for the season. Am I required to "keep" him or can I replace him with another of my defenders from last year prior to the upcoming draft???

  1. My suggestion would be to put this up to a silent league vote, and let the majority decide.

    What say you, fellow commishes?

  2. I thought that Pat said somewhere that keepers were final unless something crazy happened and I thought included season-ending injuries.

  3. Well, you have the opportunity to cast your vote. Just reply to the email sent out minutes ago by the best looking of the 3 commissioners.

  4. Does the defendant get to cast a vote??

  5. Ahh, yeah I think I did say that but since it is not published online anywhere (that I can find) we will have to take a vote.

  6. Josh... I didn't send out an email ever... you must mean the 2nd best looking...

  7. Well, it is now past midnight, and the vote tally came down to 4 votes against Tony Sr replacing Thomas and only 3 votes for replacing. Looks like you'll just have to rely on a strong draft to make up for your early loss Tony.

  11. In Pat's "Draft & Keeper Deadline" post on July 29, 2011 he said "My only requirement is that once a keeper is called, it is permanent except in the case of a major injury or shocking offseason matter (arrested on criminal charges, etc). However, once the deadline hits, the player is kept no matter what."

So the part that says "however, once the deadline hits, the player is kept no matter what" would mean that Tony Sr is NOT allowed to switch his keeper, correct? Cause if that's the case then I DO agree that he shouldn't be allowed to make a different selection. Unless the deadline that Pat spoke of when talking about injuries was Draft Day and not the Keeper Deadline. If it was the case that the Keeper Deadline is what Pat was referring to then it seem obvious that he would have been able to change it since the deadline would not have passed yet.

I don't know what the purpose of this post is.

  12. Thanks for running that down John. I think it's fairly straight forward that the "deadline" Pat referred to was the Keeper deadline of midnight August 21st. I've got no problem with it. Looking forward to a fun draft day. Let the Games Begin! Thanks again, Tony

  13. Yes, it would be a strange thing to reinforce that once the draft day hits, you have to keep your players. ;)
